Thomas Skarrow - Carlisle Councillor and Bailiff 1662-1676

Thomas Skarrow also served with Carlisle Council between 1662 and 1676. He held the positions of councillor and bailiff. The images and table below shows a declaration (transcribed), and also the composition of Carlisle Council in 1662:

I do declare that there he? nor obligation upon me or any other person from the oath commonly called the solemn league and covenant; and that the same was in itself an unlawful oath and imposed upon the subjects of this realm against the known laws and liberties of this kingdom.

The surviving records of the council are limited, the image below shows the attendance records between 1668 and 1669. Unfortunately, only the list of absentees have been written. These records, dated from 1667 to 1676, are available to view at the Carlisle Records Office.
